Death feeds the roots that support life

Tree of Eternity

Into the darkness are seeping
Voices of suffering spirits
In sanguine eyes is steeping
The reflection of torn merits

Humans that by life are vanquished
Will be locked in insanity
By sorrow they will be varnished
In the tree of eternity

Sleepless they scream with icy faith
Feeding the leaves of ancient hopes
They will be held captive in wraith
Till the tree is a wizened corpse

Now if this isn't a tree straight out of J.K. Rowling's imagination, I don't know what is! Such strength. It literally looks like a twisting body.

fantastic concept. the tree must have fed from so many graves. I wonder what we may find inside it when it breaks. Maybe entangled spirit. this is so very inspiring. I should write a poem about it. thank you so much for sharing it.

thank you for your comment ,i believe the roots from this very old and very large tree span quite a distance in this cemetery and must have fed on the decaying corpses for over a hundred years ,many dates on the tombstones date back to the 1800's ,its also an abandoned graveyard, the centries old church was demolished many many years ago. should you ever write a poem about this tree i would be very interested to read it as this is my favourite cemetery and i have taken many photos of this tree and the cemetery it lives in ..)0(..
